DaVinci Resolve 17.x on Mac M1: .MOV Audio only

PostSun Dec 20, 2020 8:07 am

Hi there,

on my new MacBook Pro M1 I only get the Audio tracks in the timeline for MOV files (DnxHR SQ, Atomos Ninaj V) with either 17.x beta Studio; the one dedicated for M1 and the "normal" one. The video track remains empty. Not so with Davinci Resolve Studio 16.2.8, this works perfectly fine, with the exact same files on the exact same MacBook.

MP4 i.e. does not make any trouble.

Anybody knowing what's going on here?

Kind regards

This is a known issue with 17.1 running on Apple Silicon/M1. Some codecs like DNx etc are not supported in the native mode due to lack of availability of SDKs.

You can install the Apple Pro Video codecs back to get read support for DNx. Alternatively, you can right-click on Resolve, Get Info, and choose to run it in Rosetta mode, and you should get the full set of codecs, but it will be slower.
