I started to see that also in 16, but less aggravating.

here is the video https://www.dropbox.com/s/gn9f9gtn2ucd6o1/DaVinci%20Resolve%20Studio%20-%2001_helene_doomed%202020-12-20%2008-54-37.mp4?dl=0

the piece is a 3 minutes music video, a single clip with cuts and color. it take seconds to simply switch pages.

I have been seeing longer than usual times when switching to a new page in Studio 17 for Windows.

I thought perhaps my older hardware was the cause.

17b6 does not improve the issue.

I think I am seeing improvement in Beta 6. Going to Fusion is slow, but the other pages do seem to load faster for me now.

Switching pages is no more than a half second for any of my projects in R17 on Mac Mojave.

Do you happen to have a graphics tablet connected to the computer (like a Wacom or a Huion) ? I have a Huion tablet and if I open Resolve with the tablet connected to the computer, tab switching and even opening settings, the inspector etc is much slower compared to when it's not connected.

I've been having this issue as well with all the 17betas. I can confirm, disconnecting a wacom and starting resolve and then reconnecting the wacom makes a staggeringly better experince in switching tabs.

I'll keep trying different approaches, and maybe a new wacom driver, but this is a dramatic improvement in performance from a gui perspective.

On my machine (Resolve is installed in a VHDX on HDD, so disc access is quite slow compared to production systems) with Resolve 17b18 (and Wacom 6.3.39 drivers):

Startup with Wacom Intuos Pro disconnected (from start of the log up to 1st «Flushing GPU Buffers»):
about 47 Seconds.

Startup with Wacom Intuos Pro disconnected (from start of the log up to 1st «Flushing GPU Buffers»):
about 26 Seconds.

Measuring the page-switching time is inaccurate. Especially the Fusion page needs some extra time after being drawn onto the screen until it accepts the Shift+6 for switching to the Color page. After opening the "Age of Airplanes" example from the beginner's guide into the Media page, I did nothing but switching pages manually as fast as possible. Measure is the difference between the "Main view page is changed to ..."-entries in the log, then in the %APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\logs directory (requires Windows-Subsystem for Linux, or a Linux- or a OSX-machine, respectively)
Code: Select all
cat ResolveDebug.txt | sed -n -e '/Main view page/p'

Page-switching time with Wacom Intuos Pro disconnected to USB:
from about 1 to about 3 Seconds.

Page-switching time with Wacom Intuos Pro disconnected from USB:
from about 1 to about 3 Seconds.

Page-switching time with Wacom Intuos Pro reconnected to USB after being disconnected for startup:
from about 1 to about 3 Seconds.

Conclusion: Disconnecting the Tablet speeds up the startup, but has no significant influence on the page-switching time.

For me, starting up Resolve with the Huion tablet connected, tab switching takes 1-3 seconds and other options like project settings and inspector take 0.5-1.5 seconds.

Starting Resolve with the tablet disconnected, everything is pretty much instantaneous (possibly the fusion page could occasionally take a bit longer).

I can confirm that for me unpluging wacom intous BT S solve this BIG lag.
I am using DR Studio 16.2.7 on Win 10 Pro.
