Cannot encode to 10-bit color

PostTue Dec 22, 2020 4:02 am

Hi,

I am using the free version of DaVinci Resolve on a MacBook Pro (2017) running OSX Big Sur, with the x265 version 3 CODEC installed.

To test Resolve to see if it really would encode output to 10-bit color, I imported a test video file and in the project settings, specifically set the color output to 10-bit color.

The resulting .MOV file was 8-bit color.

Is there a way to encode video to 10-bit color on a Mac, or does the hardware simply not support it?

Thanx.

I don't think you can using Free version.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
