Waveform in Fairlight While Recording?

PostThu Dec 24, 2020 12:39 am

When recording audio in Fairlight, I set the "Input Monitor Style" to "Repro" so I don't have any delayed feedback while recording.

Problem: In "Repro" mode, Fairlight does not display the waveform until I stop recording.

Question: Is there any way to record audio, see the useful waveform while recording, but not have the annoying feedback?

Thanks!

Suggest you include a detailed system spec in your signature: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=90190

Having gone digging I see you are running Resolve 17 "beta 7" on Windows 10 and a MixPre 3-II.
Note that beta 6 is the most current build of Resolve 17.

Input: only the Input is being monitored, and not the Track output
Auto: Input is monitored while the Audio Track is armed. On playback the Track Output is monitored.
Record: the Input is only monitored when the Record button has been activated.
Repro: the Track output is monitored, and the Input signal is muted.
Mute: mutes the Track while in Record, else behaves like Repro.

Thank you for your reply & suggestion on a spec signature.

I'd like to wear headphones while working, and it seems this is might be the problem. When recording in Fairlight while wearing headphones, the only way to avoid feedback is to pick a monitoring mode that is mute while recording. And waveforms do not display during recording for any of these modes. The waveform appears when I stop recording, but it's just flatlined during the recording session.

When I'm not wearing headphones everything is OK.

This might just be a corner case that Fairlight cannot handle...
