Can I add music tracks with more than 48kHz sample rate?

PostThu Dec 24, 2020 6:04 pm

Can I add music tracks with more than 48kHz sample rate, say like a 96kHz or 192kHz song track?

I'm asking because I know some people in the past having some troubles adding a wav. file that was more than 48kHz as its sample rate.

Resolve Timelines may contain mixed rate source media (44.1k - 384k).

Resolve will automatically convert the source media rate to the Project rate as set by:
Project Settings > Fairlight > Timeline Sample Rate

Note:
Resolve Studio supports a variety of rates, the free version of Resolve only supports 48k Projects.

Resolve Timelines are always 32bit. The source media on the Timeline may be mixed bit depth (16 - 32bit).

When you say "Resolve will automatically convert the source media rate to the Project rate," it will automatically downsample a 192kHz track to a 48kHz track if all the other tracks are at 48kHz (which means the 192kHz track will lost some sound qualty)? In other words, if so, it can never "up-sample" a 48kHz track to, say, a 96kHz track with a 96kHz Timeline Sample Rate?

Source media is resampled to the Project rate - in this example the 48k source will be resampled to the 96k rate.

The Audio Clip indicates resampling with an “SRC” icon if this option is enabled in Fairlight > View Clip Info Display

Thank you.

Thank you for your patience. This is my first time using Resolve for a music video.
