Hello,

Does anybody know what is better for Davinci Resolve (for timeline + render/output speed)

- more GPU Pipelines and Transistors

or

- Core and Memory Frequency (speed)

????????

I'm going to buy a laptop and have to choose between

RTX 2080 MAX-Q (mobile) 8 Gb
and
RTX 2070 (mobile) 8 Gb

The 1st one (2080 max-q) has more Pipelines and Transistors
Transistors 13600 Million
Pipelines 2944
Core Speed 990 - 1230 (Boost) MHz
Memory Speed 12000 MHz


The 2nd one (2070) has higher Core and Memory Frequency (speed)
Transistors 10800 Million
Pipelines 2304
Core Speed 1215 - 1440 (Boost) MHz
Memory Speed 14000 MHz

I'm going to work with different kind of videos:
from 1080p (simple editing like "slide-show") to 4k (effects/colors/etc)

..my thoughts are the following:
- anyway most laptops have throttling for GPU and CPU. So in most cases usual RTX 2070 (or super) could work in lower speed (freequency) after 5-10 min rendering.
So 2080 Max-Q is better, as looks like max-q series is designed to exclude throttling at all. In result we have same speed (cores frequency), but more Pipelines and Transistors.

My answer is RTX 2080 MAX-Q (mobile) 8 Gb is better than RTX 2070 (mobile) 8 Gb

Agree / disagree ?

CUDA Cores
Bus Bandwidth
GPU Memory Size

Speed isn't on that list of three, so...more cores.
