Hangs and issues when using Fusion Trackers in many ways

PostSat Dec 26, 2020 9:09 pm

I'm finding Trackers in Fusion are barely usable right now, as most ways of using their result will either hang DR, or the position that gets used is incorrect (even though the tracked path is correct).

Reproducable using the Center position of a Text+ node (or any other node positions):

Tracker node (correctly set up and successfully tracked a feature in the MediaIn)
* Connect To > Tracker1 > Unsteady Position: hang
* Connect To > Tracker1 > Tracker 1: Unsteady Position: hang
* (and so on)
* Connect To > Tracker1Tracker1Path > Position: works

Tracker modifier
* Add a Tracker position modifier (Modify With > Tracker position) and set up appropriately: works
* Remove the modifier: hang
* Add a Tracker unsteady position modifier (Modify With > Tracker unsteady position) and set up appropriately: doesn't work. Will move but not at the tracker's location.
* Remove the modifier: hang

Reproducable using the Line Position of a Call Out from Edit Templates > Titles:

Tracker node (correctly set up and successfully tracked a feature in the MediaIn)
* (all hangs from Text+)
* Connect To > Tracker1Tracker1Path > Position: doesn't update. Will snap to the initial location of the tracker but not move to subsequent keyframes.

Tracker modifier
* Add a Tracker position modifier (Modify With > Tracker position) and set up appropriately
* Doesn't work - the line doesn't track the tracker. The line's dot/marker will snap to the initial position of the tracker, but the line will be offset from the dot/marker (the line's offset to the dot/marker seems to correct after some amount of scrubbing). The tracker path shown at the end of analysis looks like a significantly scaled down version of the path, and things act weird as you scrub the timeline, with the axis displayed jumping around and other things.

All in all, it's really hard to find a reliably usable setup for trackers, as some will work for the simple cases of a Text+'s center, but in more complicated cases like the Call Out's line position nothing seems to work. In DR17b5 and earlier was a little better for this than DR17b6, but it was still quite broken in those too. I've attached a project archive and logs, but it's so easy to reproduce that they're not really necessary.
