Win 10 recognizes both of my displays but the option "full screen viewer" isn't there under workspaces as suggested by this vid.

The feature he's talking about in the video is only available in the Studio version of DaVinci Resolve.

Absolutely sure, it's Studio only. It was first released in DaVinci Resolve Studio v16.1 Beta but was later renamed "Video Clean Feed". See the release notes here.

oh so "video clean feed" doesn't even show up in beta but if I buy 17 when it's release I will see it and it will allow me to use the other display as a preview?
I hope that's the case because I'm planning on buying the bundle with the speed editor soon.

DaVinci Resolve comes in two flavours, the free version and the Studio version.

When betas are released they are available for both the free version and the Studio version.

Beta or not, only the Studio version has video clean feed. It's available on both the latest release version, Studio v16.2.8 and the latest beta, Studio v17.0/v17.1 Beta 6. All are available for download in the support section: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/family/davinci-resolve-and-fusion

You don't have to wait for a non-beta version, but to use the Studio version you need either an activation key or a USB dongle.

I understand the difference between the free and studio versions but I was just hoping to get a solid answer if I will still need to buy a BM decklink card (that would be a deal breaker for me considering I just built a new PC with a new GPU).
It's going to be a big learning curve for me going from Vegas Pro (20+ years) to DR but it seems like it'll be worth it.
I would go ahead and buy DR 16 studio but I'll be waiting on this bundle deal when it becomes available.

If you use the Studio version you don't need a DeckLink for full screen preview on a second monitor. But a DeckLink/UltraStudio gives peace of mind that you're seeing a perfect 10-bit version of the image that can't be affected by settings in the operating system or by GPU driver settings. It's also useful for outputting the correct frame rate for the timeline you're viewing.

I'll prolly make DeckLink/UltraStudio my next investment but for now I'm glad I didn't buy the decklink I was going to buy a couple of weeks ago when I was first started trying DR free (thinking it was the only way to get an external monitor happening).
It was this forum that helped me to not compulsively do that and to keep researching and checking other options like Premiere.

I don't understand, are you saying I can't do color correction/grading without it?

You can do what you like, but you won't see what you get.

But don't worry, on the internet nothing matters. That's just old school for TV and Cinema.

I used to do production/post for regional PBS and had to follow all the guidelines (used a callibrated monitor, added color bars/tone, 10 second black for breaks, etc) but I'm retired now.
All I want to do now is put together projects using my music set to nature stuff, timelapse and drone footage...and prolly indeed just for youtube so being able to do some color grading would make me happy.
Haoppy I preordered 17 with the speed editor yesterday...seems like a great deal.
