Best laptop configuration for 4K/6K/8K, h265 editing/grading

I have read Canon's h265 4:2:2 is even harder than h265 4:2:0... but there are people still complaining with modern processors:

In doubt what's the best?

A Hexa-core i7-9750H or Xeon E-2276M with the Quadro RTX 5000 16GB VRAM?

Or Octa-core i7-10875H with a RTX 2080 Max-Q 8GB VRAM?

Or yet the Octa-Core Ryzen 7 3700X but with the RTX 2070 8GB VRAM?

So, is it more crucial an Octa-core CPU or a 16GB VRAM GPU?

h.265 422 always has to be decoded by the CPU (h.265 420 can be hardware decoded by the GPU).
When you want to edit this smoothly(real-time), transcode it to Cineform or DNx, h265 422 is a pain in the butt with 4k, 8k is almost impossible to decode in realtime.

Fast storage is pretty affordable these days.

Can you point me out the best example on budget?

what i can say, is that if you also want to export the edit in anything above 4k timeline and export above 4k resolution you need more then 8gb of vram.

i had in a desktop a 2080 8gb vram and using 6k export h265 it said many times out of vram and could not export. i put a 11gb 1080ti and the error was gone(i still get the error of out of vram if i put many nodes, or put nr on 3 or more frames, but now i can at least add more then 1 colour nodes, and nr works somewhat, with 8gb i could not use nr it would give me out of vram memory error)

The best option on a budget is definitely not a laptop!

Preferable up to $2000 but I can spend a bit more, just not interested to throw away my investment and see it for a fraction of the price in a year or so.

Laptop, not desktop, because I cannot put a desktop inside a bag or put it to work during a flight or a train trip for example.

OK, then go for the MacBook Pro M1, since it doesn't throttle on battery power. Most PC laptops do.

P.S. Oh, and 8K? Hmm.

MAX-Q are reportedly very weak compared to MAX-P laptops - I gather the "P" stands for Performance.

Octa-Core Ryzen 7 3700X but with the RTX 2070 8GB VRAM should be a balanced combination - I use a RTX 2070 with a 12-core 3900x and I see up to 14-16 cores actually utilized at 25-40% max with Neat plugin NR (2.7k mp4 Prores flat footage superscaled to 4k). The 8-core CPU should see 50-60% utilization with the RTX2070.

But I would still second the recommendation for the M1 with its UMA advantages above - if you wanted a laptop.
