In forums you mostly se posts from bug reports. But in this thread I like to hear the voice from users thats running Davinci 17 beta version, with succes (stable, fast, responsive). Waiting for the final release is of course the proper way to go, but if there is alot of users using similar files, with similar machine, you might also try out the beta.

Please fill in these data.

What beta version you running
Pc/mac?
Which os version
Which graphic driver.
Which graphic cards (or workstation specs if you feeling naughty past christmas)
The three most common camera files you worked with the beta.
How long time you have been running the beta.

Currently running 17.0b6 build 18 free version
PC
Windows 10 Home
457.30 Studio
GTX 1060 6GB
Normally mp4 HD 50fps 35Mbps
I have run all the version 17 betas

I don't use Fusion or the Cut page. I have had no problems with installation, stability, speed, or responsiveness. For what I do, no show stopping bugs either.
Been using Resolve for the last 4 years.

No show=stoppers here. Stable, fast. Occasional bugs. Haven't crashed Resolve, have crashed Fusion Studio once.

A pretty good experience so far with the 17 beta 6 Studio version. I have had some crashes but each time I restarted Resolve and no damage seemed to have been done. I've not used the Fusion page yet.

I think these are the two keys right now to a blissful Beta experience. Nvidia's latest driver, 460.89, introduced a new version of Cuda, and I'm pretty sure it's causing a lot of the instability problems with Resolve (and the Fusion page especially).

Running Resolve Studio v17.0b6 build 18 with almost no problems, but Fusion is still frustrating, but much better than v16.

(You're probably not going to get nearly the number of replies for those who find it working. You pretty much see 100% of folks who have problems reporting here, and there are a LOT of people using the beta that don't hop on here that often and see your thread. For example, most new Youtube Resolve videos I've seen recently are running the beta. (I.e. I can see the little red box in the bottom left corner.)

Works just fine for me. Really tried to force a crash with lots of grading + both NR + deflicker and so on. Added some key points to slowly rotate video gradually level for the last two minutes on top of this. That was with my old 1060 GPU, went down to rendering at 0.5 fps but worked fine. For me it is less problems and generally faster than version 16.

Had a few minor problems with the earlier beta. Just 2-3 crashes in total so far when clicking on something like a font or an animated effect in the user interface. No problems after upgrading the GPU. Have not tried the latest beta yet and have not been using Fusion.

Running Resolve v17b6 with success - stable, fast responsive.

Note that I spend almost all of my time on the Fairlight page. But I'd say it's already much better than v16 and still in beta. Definitely usable.

The latest drivers have Cuda 11.2 (previous driver had 11.1.1), which introduced a new memory management model. I don't know for certain that it's the cause, but I did notice a pretty big jump in out-of-memory crashes as soon as I upgraded to that driver (it did also coincide with DR 17b6, so it could be a red herring).

What beta version you running - Build 18
Pc/mac? PC
Which os version - Win10 2004
Which graphic driver. NVIDIA 456.71
Which graphic cards (or workstation specs if you feeling naughty past christmas) - GTX2080Ti
The three most common camera files you worked with the beta. H.265 10 bit 4:2:0 60FPS and H.264 10 bit 4:2:2 30FPS
How long time you have been running the beta. Since it was released

It is useable, Fusion is still almost unusable, caching anything Fusion related still takes forever even simple things like motion graphics titles, and for some reason even pictures need to cache before the timeline will play smoothly. I use a transparent PNG overlay over my project with my logo and it has to cache before I can even play the timeline (very annoying).

Also, DR will crash every time if you leave Lightroom or Photoshop open while it is open.

Beyond those things DR17 seems a little better in the performance department for me than 16 but not by much.

I'm running 17.1B Build 9 on the M1 Mac mini and M1 Macbook Pro 13 inch. Performance is definitely a step down for rendering and Fusion compositions compared to my old Windows 10 workstation (2080ti, 3960x), but stability is fine for the most part. The overall snappiness of the timeline on the new M1's is pretty good with the beta as it stands now.

R17 has been the most stable beta since BMD's been doing public betas. I think the extra development time this year was time well spent.

17b6 fixed what were show-stopper bugs in color management. It's now as good for me as 16 ever was, and the new color pipeline, including well-rounded support for HDR is streets ahead of 16.

Beta6 I have had crashes and oddities whereas I hadn't had crashes before. Also something i've never seen before. I was going back and forth between a video tutorial and resolve(on same monitor) and each time I returned to the youtube video, it was just a black screen where the actual video was. Nothing has done that before. had to refresh page each time I returned to youtube video.

Seams like Nvidia optimized the drivers in november to give Davnici the best performance.
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/ne ... io-driver/
Since the article is posted 17 November and the date correspond to 457.30 - Release Date: Tue Nov 17, 2020. This might be the best one to get, and its just before the 460.89 wich Richards say has a new
new memory management model, that might be more prone to "out-of-memory crashes".

Maybe Resolve used all video memory, or graphics device was reset.

I remember video frame becomes black at least in Firefox when graphics device is reset. That is, on Windows, at least.

Anyway, you can try using VLC for youtube videos should that happen to you again.
