Playback issues

PostMon Dec 28, 2020 4:57 pm

Hello guys!

I have a laptop for editing and checking the footage on the set. I used to be able to watch the footage smoothly in Resolve and add even some effects without using proxies. Now the playback is very jittery and when I optimise the media and apply quarter resolution, the playback does not smooth out at all. The problem is apparent with all file types that I have tried. If I playback the footage on other softwares it plays smoothly. I'm using Resolve version 16.2.7.010. The laptop's specs are as follows:
Intel core i5-8250U 1,6 Ghz
Nvidia geforce mx150 2gb
6Gb ddr memory

Get a better machine, yours is well below specs.

It used to do the job just fine before (like a year ago) with similar footage, so there shouldn't be an issue with the hardware. Has the software gotten more hardware greedy in recent updates? The laptop is like two years old so it shouldn't have gotten rusty already.

It wasn't up to it two years ago if you checked the minimum system requirements.
But you could try an older version, I'd suggest 15.3.1 (scroll on the support page).
