Proxy Media being stretched and pitched

When generating proxy media with some audio at 44.1 Hz and others at 48.0 Hz all the clips at 44.1 Hz lose sync with the video and are down pitched. The 44.1 Hz clip seem to generate into 48.0 hz clips that play fine in VLC and MPC-HC.

The only reason I've ran into this was needing to find a way to make files from obs to run smoothly with the sync bin with 4 plus videos. It works a lot better in the multi cam edit page workflow.

Is this with clips altered with beta 6?

Yes, just opening beta 6. Dropping in the four files, they play fine. Generate proxies and while the proxies are being used the clips that were 44.1 hz sound is slowed and pitched down.

Hi, Peter,

In answer to your question, yes, the same problem, which a few people, including me, have been reporting throughout the beta period, continues in Beta 6.

The proxy is identical to the original except it changes the audio from 41.1 kHz to 48. Then plays it back more slowly, probably taking the 48 kHz audio and playing it back at 41.1. The solution seems to be to make sure that the proxy maker just does a pass-through on the audio, keeping the original, which the playback seems to expect.

If I take the files created as proxies, and remove them from that folder then import them as new files, they play back fine.

e.g., the specific proxy-playback mode seems to expect the original sample rate when playing back.

Though maybe it would be better, in the interests of a smooth playback, for the proxy builder to continue transcoding any audio into what may be a more Resolve-friendly sample rate, 48kHz, but changing the proxy-playback mechanism so it sees the audio the way the rest of the program usually sees it -- taking it on without its prior sample-rate baggage, so to speak.

This problem is not fixed in Beta 7. I keep hoping.

Thanks to everyone working on this fine program with so many extraordinarily useful improvements in this version. I'll look forward to the day when the proxy system works flawlessly, as I'm sure it will.

There was a forum thread here on the subject, which the OP might find of use - viewtopic.php?f=21&t=116456

Only 'fix' is to duplicate the media you have proxied in your files, and import again and just drag the audio under the proxied footage. Bit of a pain but at least it works

Anyone from Davinci know what's causing this and if there's a fix apart from the long way I mentioned above?
