1080p from BM Mini Monitor to 4k TV - No signal received

PostTue Dec 29, 2020 1:52 am

Hello,

I just got a QLED Q60T. I'm running a BM mini monitor (sadly 1080p max) to a Flanders monitor through SDI and I'm looking to get the HDMI signal to the TV simultaneously. It works on my older 1080p Samsung Television but with this 4k TV it's not picking up the signal. Is that a limitation of the TV or the BM breakout box? I've had success with the Television as a PC monitor through HDMI but no go with the box. I would love any troubleshooting ideas you guys might have.

Thanks for your help.

It has been discussed here and the reason seems to be the copy protection protocol. Some had success with cheap Chinese HDMI splitters.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Thanks for getting back. I have just a couple more questions on this.

I already have to get a LUT box do you think that is a potential fix?
Is this a limitation of the Mini Box and if so will the Blackmagic Ultra 4k Studio fix override the issue?
If the splitter is the only solution are there any cheap splitters that that you know work?

Thanks

Sorry, neither do I use a LUT box (I just put a LUT into the monitor path in Resolve), nor do I have the 4K UltraStudio.
Please check the discussions in the Post Production forum.
Those splitters are all no name, and they don't have the same 'brands' here in Asia.

Zero related to copy protection. Some BM cards have compatibility issues with some TVs. It's well known problem. An active splitter which produces own EDID should fix it. There were some links to splitters which work, you would have to search forum.

If you insert LUT box in the chain this should fix it as well as it will most likely present 'new' HDMI signal to the TV.

Thanks for the tips. I might try out the LUT box option since I will most likely need that either way.
