Resolve stuck hanging

Hi guys, I'm new to posting here but I have been following the forum for a couple of years now since I started using Resolve.

I was in the middle of a project when at some point Resolve stopped responding. Thinking that perhaps the memory had maxed out I performed a force quit on the program and restart the computer. Since then Resolve hangs upon opening any project after 5-10 seconds. I was on version 16 and upgraded to 17 beta but no luck.

Every so often I can get the program to dump the cache and begin a rebuild, but it freezes somewhere between 1 and 2gb of data. I'm on a Mac and have been dealing with the color wheel for well over 24 hours. I am inclined to think the issue is with rebuilding the cache but it can't be a specific file as it halts with every previous project now. It never used to do this.

2.6ghz 6-core intel i7
32BG ram
Radeon Pro Vega 20 4gb
2tb ssd internal drive, about 800gb free

Smart Cache On
Proxies set to Half
source files: Apple Pro Res LT 4k, timeline displays 1080p (my standard setup)

I've used Resolve on this computer for many many projects, but suddenly it will not work with anything.

When it initially hangs. activity monitor reads 400-650 CPU, 15-30% GPU memory stays in the green.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would expect that BMD will need a stack dump or at least the logs to show where and why this gets stuck.

I would suggest trying two things: disabling caching and restoring the prior O/S.

If it seems to be hanging while building the cache, what happens if you turn off all caching?

Did the problem start when you upgraded to Big Sur? Have you considered re-installing Catalina? I don't see anything in Big Sur that makes it worth the upgrade so I plan to revert my laptop so that I don't run into issues. I would be interested in knowing if you revert and see the issue go away.
