pb cuda/gpu ouverture DaVinci Resolve 15

PostTue Dec 29, 2020 5:34 pm

Bonjour à tous,
je viens enfin de réussir à installer Davinci Resolve 15 sur mon Mac Pro 5.1 (2009) avec l'OS sierra (10.12.6) et NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 Mo.

Mais je ne peux l'ouvrir car DaVinci Resolve 15 refuse : "could not find any CUDA capable GPUs"

Translated as this is English forum

Hello everyone,
I have finally succeeded in installing Davinci Resolve 15 on my Mac Pro 5.1 (2009) with the OS sierra (10.12.6) and NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512 MB.

But I can't open it because DaVinci Resolve 15 refuses: "could not find any CUDA capable GPUs"
I understand that the CUDA driver must be updated. What I just did but DRV does not accept it. Can you help me by telling me the correct CUDA driver to download so that I can open DaVinci Resolve.
Thanks for your help

A mid range computer configured items released up to two years ago is safest. Readme file with every release has min specs

I would suggest you get an AMD RX580 card, and update your OS to Mojave.

That will allow you to run Resolve 16 with no issues, and at least at the moment, Resolve 17, although you may need Catalina at some point to run Resolve 17. And that's a little more effort to get running on a 5,1 MacPro.

Thanks Dwaine, but are you sure that :
1/this card is compatible with my machine ( CPU:2,66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon & RAM 12 Go 1066 MHz DDR3 )
2/ that it is enough to run with mojave
3/ and that there will be no pb with the free version 16 of DRV ??
Anyway thank's for all

It's the card that I run here both under Mojave and Catalina with a Mac mini and in an iMac.
Works great, very reliable.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

RX 580 are great, because they're still available new and are generally very affordable but, sadly, the price has gone up lately due to the situation on the market.

@Marc: I use an RX580 on my 4,1 MacPro (fw updated to look like a 5,1 MacPro), and Catalina.

You can get your machine up to Catalina with a bit of effort. Getting it up to Mojave is easier. It might even be able to run Big Sur, but I haven't managed that on my system yet.

hello

thanks Mario and Dwaine.

Just one more question : what do you mean concretely when you write: "with a bit of effort" ?
would you be willing to describe the different operations you have done from sierra to get use of mojave ?
Have a good Sunday.

Here is what I used:

He has a patcher for Mojave and Catalina. He has detailed instructions on how to use the patchers.
