I am receiving an error when installing it that says, "Failed to install panels."
When I try to run it I get an error "The procedure entry point clReleaseDevice could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\Blackmadic Design\Devinci Resolve\gpudetect.dll"
I am running Windows 10 Pro .

You're installing from an Admin account?

You're installing to the default location on C:?

You haven't moved My Documents from it's default location on C:?

Yes, to all except I have moved my documents away from the C: drive. Is that the issue? Is there a work around?

I reverted it My Documents back to the C: drive and got the same failure.

What GPU does your computer have, and is its' driver up to date?

OK, so my first thought is that by moving it originally, you've thrown things all out of whack, and a clean install of Windows (without moving My Documents) may be the best approach.

That's extreme, though. Use that if nothing else works.

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS and yes the drivers are up to date. My other PC works with this card.

I hope not!. Too many frequently used programs.

That GPU is almost 14 years old and has a CUDA Compute Cability of 1.1 as far as I can tell. Recent updates to Resolve requires a Compute Capability of 3.5. You will probably have to use another GPU to be able to run a recent version of Resolve. Or perhaps your CPU has a built-in GPU that can run Resolve, it's usually not very fast but works well for editing and some simple grading in HD or lower.

To put it into perspective, recent GPU:s have 4,000 to 10,000 CUDA cores. The 8400GS has 16 CUDA cores.

It is interesting that it works in another PC with the same card.
I have ordered a new GPU and will try that.
Thank you very much. I will advise in a few days.

The other PC might have a better CPU with a built-in GPU that it's using instead of the Nvidia card.

From Resolve version 16.2.7 onwards CUDA 11 is used. This requires Nvidia GPUs to have a minimum Compute Capability of 3.5. Without this capability only OpenCL will be available to you.

I noticed taht on my other PC. My problem here is I can't get the panels to install. I get a failed message. Then of course the program will not run. Speed doesn't matter if it will not install correctly.

I am using only teh Nvidia card. I have upgraded my GPU to a newer one and it still fails to install the panels with no error listed.

Does the rest of your computer meet the minimum specs?

Yes Charles with the exception of desktop video which I am installing now. (I recently upgraded the video card to meet the spec.
My other PC had no problem and it is an old dual core with 8gb of ram.
This is a six core with 16gb. Although a few years old it has no problems with anything else.

OK I ignored the panels and went to 17. It installed fine with a minor warning about my graphics card not supporting UHD! Thanks to all!
