sometimes the waveforms are missing

Hi!

I have used DaVinci Resolve Studio 16 under Linux a bit and today gave DaVinci Resolve Studio 17 Public Beta 6 (v17.0.0b.0018) a test drive. In preparation I removed all folders under

~/.config/Blackmagic Design
~/.local/share/DaVinciResolve

to avoid any old config files/caches etc. I also removed the old installation under

/opt/resolve

and performed a fresh installation of R17. Then I grabbed the files from the R16 intro lessons Quick to Cook. As expected I have no audio as the tutorial files use AAC for the audio stream, as the Linux version of DaVinci Resolve does not use an AAC codec for licensing reasons. *sigh*

So I used ffmpeg to transcode the audio from AAC to linear PCM while keeping the video stream unchanged.

Now I can hear the audio but there is no waveform shown below the video. If I use ffmpeg to extract the audio stream into a wave file and import it, I can see the waveforms and hear the audio as expected.

I have tried other containers from various others cameras with similar results. I can play them back and hear the audio, but the waveform is not shown. If I drag the media file down and create a timeline, there is also no waveform visible.

Image

There is just a straight white line and a straight black line. If I delete the audio and drag the wave file from before into the timeline, then the waveform is visible.

Any idea what is going on?

Happy new year!
Keep up the good work!
