"GPU Memory FULL"

PostWed Dec 30, 2020 6:52 pm

Hello! I use DR 17.6 on an Alienware 15 R2 Laptop.
Operating System
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
CPU
Intel Core i7 6700HQ @ 2.60GHz 65 °C
Skylake 14nm Technology
RAM
32.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1330MHz (19-19-19-43)
Motherboard
Alienware 0W6T61 (U3E1)
Graphics
Generic PnP Monitor (1920x1080@60Hz)
Intel HD Graphics 530 (Dell)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M (Dell) 59 °C
ForceWare version: 460.89
SLI Disabled
Storage
931GB Hitachi HGST HTS721010A9E630 (SATA ) 39 °C
238GB NVMe PM951 NVMe SAMSU SCSI Disk Device (Unknown (SSD))
476GB NVMe Samsung SSD 960 SCSI Disk Device (Unknown (SSD))

It works fine in HD timeline, but when switching to 4k I receive this erorr: GPU Full.
Is there a way to deliver 4k/25p without errors? Like managing to export slower but with no errors?

Not on that machine. Your GPU's VRAM is too small for 4K.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Studio 19.1.3
MacOS 13.7.4, 2017 iMac, 32 GB, Radeon Pro 580 + eGPU
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM, MacOS 14.7.2

I'm having the same issue with a rtx 2070 max Q.

And I got the same message with an HD timeline. Apparently it even complained about the number of nodes.

I wasn't getting that in the previous version.

Just to ensure:
Preferences.System
a) ->Memory and GPU.GPU Configuration
--> Set to "Auto", or excplicitely set to "GTX 965M"? Tried to disable GPU processing?
b) ->Memory and GPU.Memory Configuration
--> Tried max/min values? This not directly applies to VRAM, but might have impact onto RAM sharing.

In principle, 2nd generation Maxwell should be capable of decoding and encoding 4k video. That's not all needed here, though.

Here's one of the reasons why I am constantly saying "You can't do this job on a Laptop."

You need a new GPU. But on a Laptop, the hardware isn't as easily upgraded.

Build a new desktop. ;)

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
