How to scroll keys and mouse

PostThu Dec 31, 2020 8:31 am

Is it a specification that the following behavior is performed on the edit page?

■ Davinci 17 Beta
Ctrl + mouse wheel: side-scroll
Shift + mouse wheel: Vertical Zoom

■ Davinci 16
Ctrl + mouse wheel: (none)
Shift + mouse wheel: side-scrolling

Personally, I think the following behavior is common.
Also, is it possible to customize the key so that it behaves as follows?

■ My expectations
Ctrl + Mouse Wheel: Vertical Zoom
Shift + mouse wheel: side-scrolling

Why would you expect it to be the other way around? Also, Alt+Scroll is zoom in or out at Playhead position.

Thank you for your reply

This is because the operations that I was used to using in Davinci 16 are no longer available in 17.

■ Shift + mouse wheel: side-scrolling
- In Davinci 16, side-scrolling was possible with "Shift + mouse wheel: side-scrolling"
- It is common to scroll horizontally with "Shift + mouse wheel" in other software such as Excel.

■ Ctrl + Mouse Wheel: Vertical Zoom
- Because it seems that there are many operations to enlarge with other software such as Excel.

From the above, I thought that the opposite would be more appropriate.
I think this is a matter of taste, so I'd be happy if I could customize it.

While there is some logic to it to map the vertical separate key (shift is above the others) to the vertical movement, I too would expect shift to be mapped to horizontal scroll (as this is standard behaviour – at least on the Mac).

All in all there are quite a few inconsistent mappings of modifiers and actions in Resolve. See my post:

What I'm seeing with View>Enable 2D Timeline Scroll unchecked:

Scroll for Horizontal.

CTRL+SHIFT+Scroll for Vertical.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
