Open FX, Titles, etc. mostly gone

PostThu Dec 31, 2020 5:06 pm

Having searched the forum for this, most solved the missing Open FX titles, and other effects found in Edit and Fusion by clicking on Show All. Did that, still...nada.

About 2 v16 updates ago, I noticed that any title templates I had created were gone from the Title selection in the OFX tools. In fact, there are only 4 or 5 stock titles and none of the more complex templates displayed. Now in the latest v17b, still no templates.

So, I dug through several places in my Mac to find the repository of the templates. Found the full complement under System>Library>Application Support>BlackMagic and when I open the BlackMagic app container.

So my question is... if these .setting files are there, in these two locations, why are they not loaded by the program? Or are they even in the proper location(s)? I have done nothing to the install to modify their 'installed' location.
And how do I get them to show up in the program again?

All the best and Happy New Year.

I fixed this but it was a slog.
- I uninstalled 17b and re-installed 16.x
- The .setting files were present in the proper locations within the Resolve program package
- Still wouldn't show up.
- Unistalled 16 and reinstalled 17b
- None of the .setting files were in their proper locations.
- I went to my laptop and copied the entire folder structure from the 17b install (where things are working normally) and pasted it in my MacPro file and folder structure according to what Resolve wants.
- Rebooted and waalaa... things are normal. Fusion titles, etc, Callout, etc, are now there and useable. Well, Callout used inside Fusion is a crap-shoot. Really strange things happen until it becomes non-functional. At topic for another day.

One thing that would save me, maybe a lot of others, a ton of time is to have the file and folder structures graphically listed (in their own chapter) in the manual. I have run across passing mentions in the manual as part of a paragraph, where what is being talked about, is located. But one maser appendix with graphical representations of the folder structure of DaVinci would be really helpful.
