Up untill the present, every update has been free when you have bought resolve studio.

There are no promises this will remain the case.

But for now, yes.

But how many activation/deactivation are there available. I mean, if I want to reinstall windows is better to deactivate first and reactivate DR after install... but if I plan to switch to MacOS and then upgrade the computer again... Itțs like using a dongle but keeping in mind that I have do activate and deactivate the license as long as I want?

It's been my experience that you can activate on 2 computers at the same time (but the license only allows you to use one at a time). Then, when it is activated on a third computer the first two activations become invalid. So that means if you want to keep using one of the first 2 computers you will have to activate it there again after the third computer has been activated.

Seems like a pretty good system to me.

I just realized that my laptop is not powerful enough to deliver in 4k... But is good enough to render 4k footage in 1080p timeline... Strange things might happen on windows machines with outdated drivers or bugs that will never be fixed because the laptop is more than 3 years old. So I plan to go to a friend that has a more powerful computer to try to render it again, after activating the Studio version. This could save my time/work. Thanks!

Not exactly. Only the very first will become inactive.

You may want to read through the Licenses section in the FAQs
