Is it possible to downgrade to a specific beta version (specifically resolve 17 beta 2)?

The betas after beta 2 have had worse and worse performance, with the latest beta being almost unusable.

Furthermore, will there be any problems with downgrading (i.e. projects not working)?

So far the betas use the same DB version so u can downgrade to beta 2. That said, we see better performance with the later betas do id suggest exploring other potential issues

Can you provide some context for your performance issues? Detail like:
• what your setup is - OS, hardware, drivers, etc. The FAQs are a good starting point
• what you use Resolve with - the codecs you use, operations like editing/VFX/color, magnitude - timeline sizes, resolutions, number of effects etc...
• what actions were faster and are now slower (and by how much) - opening a project, playback, thumbnail refresh etc...
• what other actions you've taken between betas - Windows upgrades, clean driver installations, additional plugins/OpenFX/other software.

As Peter mentions, we have significant performance improvements between successive betas, so the info could help narrow down where the issue is. If the cause is extrinsic, chances are you'll continue to see the same issue in beta 2 as well.

Having said that, all public beta versions are available if you scroll down the first tab in the support page

I have also a performance issue with beta 6.
When using a project in davinci wide gamut everything slows down when in the color-page adn using hdr controls with canon xf-avc or canon raw lite files to the timeline, even my mouse takes few seconds to move...

using 15"macbookpro late 2019 big sur with egpu radeon VII

Can I check if you're refering to 17.0 beta 6 or the 17.1 beta 6 (the unversal binary)?

Do you see a difference between the previous version and this?

Could you expand on your setup (the MBP specs, any connected displays etc)?

I run the latest version of Windows 10 with all the latest driver updates on a machine with Intel i7-8700, Nvidia RTX 2070, and 16GB of 2666MHz RAM.

All loading seems to be a bit slower, but the highest impact has been on 4K playback and playback of clips with high speed (typically over 1000%)

Loading the timeline itself after opening the project can also take a lot longer.

I am editing off a hard drive because my SSDs are full. Because of this, I have the timeline proxy set to half resolution. This HDD hasn't been a problem in previous versions though - has resolve maybe changed how it reads files?

You can check a couple of things -
a. disk read and write speeds. 4K with speed ups often need a high disk bandwidth. It might be worth checking fragmentation and fullness of disks too, as you generate proxies.
b. graphics drivers - specifically if you can clean install the nvidia drivers - as Windows updates often tend to override your installed preferences.

But yes, for the initial post, you can try an earlier beta with the same project to compare performance.
