No usage indicators for JPG files?

I have a project in which I want to process JPG files as a slide show. Unfortunately, the Master Bin (I prefer to use the thumbnail view) does not show me which files are already used in the timeline. There is no red line at the bottom of the thumbnail. Or am I doing something wrong?

No, that's normal for stills. You'll need to use List view with the Usage column for this.
