No more playback

So whilst editing a video, I've gone into fairlight, and used the compressor on 3 tracks to accomplish "auto ducking." Immediately after this, there is no more playback of the video. Not in fairlight, not in the edit page, nowhere. It locks up, and I have to shut it down, and restart again, and it keeps doing it. I am now at a brick wall trying to complete this video. I don't know what else to check. I can do things in resolve, but as soon as I try to playback the timeline, complete lock up. I've "undone" my compressor settings just in case, but to no luck. Any ideas?

Also, my other question, if I install 16, will it be possible to import the project from 17 to 16 if that is working properly?

Is this only a video monitoring issue? Audio playback is without issue?

The database for 17 isn't backward compatible with version 16 of Resolve, so you'd have to find another way like AAF or XML.

Does this still happen when you switch to other timelines? If you create a new timeline and copy contents?

In addition to OS, hardware, peripherals etc (outlined in the FAQs link that Reynaud posted), please consider providing a downloadable link with a log archive (generated from the Help menu) and an exported project (DRP) file so we can take a look.

Sorry for the lack of information. I really do know better.

Windows 10 64bit

M.2 2280 1tb Gen 4 x4 NVMe SSD


Right now I just tried rendering what I have, and that doesn't even work. Just keeps calculating the time and nothing actually rendering. Let this go overnight and still doing the same thing.

And nothing plays back. When I hit space, or play on the timeline, nothing. It locks up, and I have to end it in task manager. I have tried other timelines, and same results. I can click around on the timelines, and the video monitor shows me that location just fine. But hit space, and the red play button lights up red, but no play. Just locked.

As I've mentioned, this all happened immediately after making changes in fairlight. I'm stuck with a project I can't finish now, right at the end!
