Importing Metadata

PostMon Jan 04, 2021 5:00 am

I am shooting with Sony A7S3 and A7R4. If I look at metadata using Sony's Catalyst Browse there is a lot of Camera metadata in the files. When I look at metadata for the same files with DaVinci Resolve I see nothing. Is there a way to get DaVinci Resolve to read and display the metadata?

Thanks for your reply.
It was not the answer I wanted but it is the answer I expected.

Igor,

I took a look at EVR for DaVinci Resolve. It looks like a good app even though it is a multi-step process to first create a CSV file and then import it into Resolve. It does entire folders at a time so it is pretty efficient. The problem is that it only supports a few cameras. At this time it does not support any of the Sony A7S cameras. Since the A7S3 is my primary camera it does not work for me.

Thanks for the lead. I will watch to see if it is upgraded.

Post a short A7S file for me to test and the list of metadata attributes you're interested in passing to Resolve. It's possible to use the scripting to write the metadata to clips. I just need to see if I can read it from the camera files.

Very interesting Igor! Do you think there is a chance to retrieve stabilization metadata from the Fx9 and Fx6 with your tool?
I'd like to find a way to use theses data to avoid Catalyst Browse and do the stab within Resolve/fusion.

Hi Greg,
My upcoming utility evrDVR MXF is in RC and will open support for FX9, FX6 FS7
Any help by sending me some reference footage (only 1 sec. is ok) in original format is very appreciated.

Thanks
