DaVinci Resolve 16.2 Slow When Moving Clips Around

PostMon Jan 04, 2021 10:11 am

A lot of people talk about slow/laggy playback, but that is not what I'm having issues with. My issue is that there is a 1-2 second delay between when I click on a clip and when it is highlighted red. This sort of lag between my mouse movements and the editing program is very annoying, and even when I split clips it takes a few second for it to actually happen in the editor. When I move clips around in the timeline I also get similar lag. Anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks.

That's not normal.

Post up your machine specs.

Thanks for the reply, Jim. Initially I did suspect it was because of my computer, but I asked here because I was getting smooth playback while still having lag when moving clips. So I thought it might be a different issue.

Anyway, here are my specs:
Intel Core i7 @ 2.60GHz
Intel HD Graphics 520
12 GB RAM
238 GB SSD
Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

No dedicated GPU?

Alright. Solving that would be my first advice. An RTX model is best.

I see. I can't get a new computer or graphics card for a few years, so do you have any other suggestions as to what I can do to fix this issue? If not, it's alright.

Do you have live save enabled?

If yes, try to disable it and see if anything changes.

Blackmagic's Config Guide specs for Resolve are pretty iron clad, and if you can't match the required CPU, RAM, GPU, and disk I/O, you're going to run into trouble:

No I don't have live save enabled. I know my computer hardware is not very good, I'm just trying to see if I can find a solution to the issue until I can upgrade. If not, it's ok.
