Speed Editor: Insert and Overwrite buttons

PostMon Jan 04, 2021 9:22 pm

I'm disappointed 'cause I can't find a couple of buttons for simple "Insert (F9)" and "Overwrite (F10)" function on my Speed Editor.
I don't really like "smart" edit functions and I'll prefer to go on working with In-Out markers in my timeline and traditional edit functions.
Is it possible to use buttons for "insert" and "overwrite" or I need to use my pc keyboard?

I also miss Insert and overrite on the SE as I generally use 3 point edit most of the time. I use replace a lot as well. I tried smart Insert, but it doesnt work for me all the time.
So I use The SE with the normal keyboard now.
I mapped the F1-4 Keys for that.

Cheers

I agree. The smart insert is way too limited. There doesn't seem to be any way to actually perform a straightforward overwrite, the absolute cornerstone of editing. The closest is 'place on top', but that's not always desired.

I really like the speed editor for certain things but ironically it's actually quite slow for editing with. We badly need track destination selection and overwrite functions, along with 'go to in' and 'go to out'.

I actually use the SE with the Keyboard and Mouse the folling way now:
I have the SE right under my keyboard to perform it as a main input device shifted to the right of the keyboard.
That leaves spaces for the left hand quickly using shortcuts on the left side of the keyboard for functions like: disable clip, insert, overwrite, replace, and many more.
This last four I mapped to F1-4

Speed Editor is available? I wonder why B&H hasn't shipped my Resolve 17/Speed Editor bundle? Gave them money maybe two months ago when the bundle was first announced. Disappointed some folks are complaining about how it works, but I'm sure I'll learn. Oh well, it'll appear sooner or later, just a spot of patience required.
