Opacity No Longer Works!

PostTue Jan 05, 2021 5:48 am

In the latest beta and opacity no longer works, fades no longer work either. Transitions work fine. Anyone have any idea on how to fix? Issue appears in all of my projects.

Same problem.

Incorrect work of all type of Dissolve Transitions and Transition sliders on clips on the Timeline. Same thing on Video and Titles.

Video/Titles appears immediately on a first o second frame for almost 100% of Opacity, no matters how long transition is or what curve U R using..

If you use any kind of color management such as RCM or ACES this will happen. Plain vanilla Davinci YRGB it will work.
I cross dissolves and such won't start from "0%". I have better luck with keyframing and changing the opacity slider in the inspector for doing head and tail fades.
This seems to be an issue that has plagued v17 beta since the first public release.

Thank you!

I just change DaVinci YRGB Color Managed to DaVinci YRGB and now it works.

This doesn't happen in color managed v.16 projects. It's a bug.

Correct. It has been present with RCM/ACES in 17 since the first public beta.
My assumption is that it is related to them overhauling RCM in 17.
If you open a project built in 16 that has fades and opacity changes, 17 seems to use a "legacy" version of RCM and things seem to work until you make changes or change to the new RCM.

Why they have not yet address this issue is beyond me.

I am having a slightly different problem, but it occurs in the same circumstances - when opacity is used in a project created in DR17 and a coloured managed project (except for the colour managed > SDR Rec.709).

In my case, opacity works, but random short horizontal lines appear at the bottom and/or the top of the picture whenever it is used.

But, I've noticed that it works fine again when I disable the "Use colour space aware grading tools option" in Color Management > Davinci YRGB Color managed > Custom options.

Can you check if it works for you the same way? If so, we could be able to point the developers in the right direction.
