Crashing on start up

Hi
I have been running V16 for some time and had only minor issues, I decided to buy V17 studio with the Speed editor, but so far I cannot get it to run.
I usually get past the project page, then sometimes onto the main programme page and sometimes not, it just crashes out.
In V17 it does find the speed editor, but when I uninstall which I have done several times, V16 does not find the speed editor.
System is:
Intel I7-4790
16Gb ram
Intel R HD Graphic 4600
Windows 10
64 bit
I have updated drivers, ran in administrator and ran the compatibility test,
Just having a nightmare here
Any ideas please?
Jonathan D

In a File Explorer window, go to:
C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve
and run CaptureLogs
This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).
Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.
Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.
If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

Hi Dwaine
Sorry but this isn't happening for me, both of the files are bigger than 1 Mb so the system won't allow it to load, is there something specific that I can copy and paste that you can work with?
Regards
Jon

Your NFO file is corrupt. Please generate another one.
Once you have it, double click it to make sure it properly opens in System Information.
Then provide a link to it.
Guessing the Intel HD4600 driver is not something Resolve is happy with.

Hi Dwaine
I have created a file again, it says it is corrupt, but when you click on OK it opens up no problem and has all of the info in there.

It is not opening correctly. When it says the file is corrupt, it then loads your local data. Which is why is appears to be working.

Your new link didn't work, but I tried you old link, and got the NFO from that, and that NFO now works.
Download and install the top (upper most) 64 bit driver from the Intel driver page link below:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downlo ... ows-15-40-If that doesn't help, send an updated log and NFO.

Hi Dwaine
Thanks for the information and suggestion to load up the driver. It unfortunately didn't change anything.
On start up he first page loads quite quickly, followed by the project page where it crashes out after around 10 to 20 seconds without clicking on any projects.
The latest .nfo file which I hope you can read.

That is not a valid link. That's a link to your version of the data. That's not a link for someone remotely to access the data.
Your first link worked before. Do whatever you did to create that link.
And also, I need an updated log and an NFO. Not just the updated NFO.

After extensive testing on a local machine, I've determined that Intel HD4600 graphics are not going to work. System can't assign enough VRAM to the GPU to make it work with Resolve. And there are apparently no work arounds to this.
Happy to be proven wrong if someone has a system with Intel HD4600 graphics that works.

Hi Dwaine
Thanks for the information, having read previous threads, I did think it was pointing in that direction for Resolve 17. I'll get to work on finding a graphics card for my machine.
In the mean time, do you have any idea why when using resolve 16, the system cannot find the speed editor?
It goes through the process of looking for looking for a control surface, it finds it when 17 is in use (before it crashes) but doesn't even put the lights on in 16. Also the same when I go into 16 to try to find a control surface.
Kind regards
Jonathan

The Speed Editor is only supported in Resolve 17.

Hi Dwaine
Just checking in, new graphics card installed. I have just created a small video in 17.
Many thanks for your help.
Kind regards
