Weird issue with Speed Editor on Edit page

PostWed Jan 06, 2021 6:44 pm

When using the speed editor on the edit page about 90% of the time I have to press the SPLIT key 2 or 3 times to get it to actually split the video. It does not matter whether I use "Selection follows play head" or not. The first couple of cuts it works normally, but after that I have to press the key 2 or 3 times, sometimes even 4 or 5 times. Please fix this, it it a real annoyance. The issue does not seem to exist in the Cut Page.

Also is there a way to add the burn transition to the transition list that is triggered by the speed editor?

The Speed Editor is designed for the Cut page not the Edit page, so only some of its functions will work there.
Resolve Studio 19.1.3 build 7
Dell XPS 8700 i7-4790, 24GB RAM, 2 x Evo SSDs, GTX1060/6GB (572.16 Studio Driver), Win10 Home, Speed Editor, Faderport 1, Calibrated Eizo ColorEdge CS230 + BenQ & Samsung monitors for UI, Canon C100mk2, Zoom H2n.

I am aware it was designed primarily for the Cut Page, but if it is going to work at all in the Edit page should it not work correctly?

At the moment it's not intended for use in the Edit page at all. It's just that some of the functions happen to work. I am sure there will be an update in a later version of Resolve that will address this.

Sorry Charles, but I cannot agree with that.

The Speed editor is clearly intended (and for the most part does) work with the Edit page. It isn't an "accident" that most of the functions work - and quite well too. :)

There are some "rough edges" still, which is to be expected as it is a new product working with beta software.

The split issue sounds like an anomaly that should be reported as a bug. I have also seen some weird behaviour when applying transitions at the ends of timelines. Track "auto select" does not work consistently.

There are also some issues in the cut page that need to be ironed out (inconsistent rippling behaviour, secondary sorting of bins...)

I do agree that these will get fixed.

David,

We can't observe this when using the speed editor on the Edit page (i.e. the split key splits the first time, joins the next etc). Can you perhaps walk us through your actions and include screenshots/video capture of the application window so we can see what is happening?

Thanks

Ok, here is a screen recording of the issue, as you will see it is really random. Hope this helps.
