Iris transitions won't work

PostThu Jan 07, 2021 10:46 pm

Hellow fellow editors.

Can someone help? This iris transistions won't work. The most I can do is to get a shape like a pentagon or a triangle to appear on screen. But the next clip should come from within these shapes and build up for the entire screen. This is not the case. Is just the shape with nothing inside. It goes from clip to clip bluntly. The geometrical form is just showing there for nothing...

I've messed with the inspector to no result... can someone help?

Do you have enough overlap between clips? How long is the transition on the timeline?

Working fine here. Have you got enough overlap, or any for that matter, of the clips to allow for the transition?

This is so incredibly hard to explain... well let me try this:

Maybe you can see my problem from Exhibit A, but basically this Diamond Iris Transition (or all other iris transitions for that matter) is not working properly. The inside of the diamond should contain the next clip but instead, it still shows the current one, like a duplicate. Now one frame after that watch what happens:

Exhibit B:

The inside of the diamond now decides to snap onto the next clip, which is my face. My face should be there from the get go.

You see my problem?

I wish I had a guru in my house, sitting next to me. I don't know if this is clear enough to you.

You don't have proper handles there.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

As has been explained, you need enough overlap of the clips (or "handles") for any transition to work. What your seeing is what I would expect to see if you just butted 2 clips up together with no overlap. Transitions have to have video to come from and go to.

As an example, if the transition lasts 2 seconds, you would trim 1 second or more off the end of one clip and 1 second or more off the front of the next clip. When butted up together they now have an overlap equal to the length of the transition.

Have a look at page 722 in the manual.

Is not for any transition to work. All other transition work the way they are supose to. I'm just having problems with the Iris one. I've butted together two long clips. The transitions have enough room. I was going through a video tutorial on youtube and the video shows him simply dragging the iris transition from the effect library then placing them between clips. For him it works fine, so I don't understand

As they are compound clips, I would check what's inside the compound clip and if there is a cut happening inside the compound clip.
