Speed Editor Bundle

I want to purchase an upgrade to studio which is available immediately and I'm willing to wait for the "FREE" gift they're willing to give me when its available but the resellers won't split the order. There is no risk to the reseller.

I just checked with B&H (again), Adorama and Core Micro and none of them will ship separately and they all say because that's the way BM wants it.

I sent an email to support and this is what I got:

"Hello,

As we do not do any sales through the company, the reseller is the point of contact for this question. If they'd like to open a license to email you the code, or to send it now and the Speed Editor later, that would be their prerogative.

Regards,

Jen Winslow
Support Representative
Blackmagic Design Inc."

Seem like someone is lying and I split orders at B&H all the time so I'm betting it isn't the resellers. This is not a technical issue, its a policy issue, why can't you change the policy. Your just stalling your own sales!

What BM said in that email matches with my experiences - my local reseller will open your license to email the code immediately on purchase if you request it. That relies on them having licenses (which come on physical cards) in stock to sell however; if those are on the same boat as the Speed Editors, then they won't have a license to give you. That's exactly what happened for me - they got the licenses and Speed Editors in stock together, and as soon as they had my money they emailed me asking if I wanted the license code right away or not. They're all of 5 minutes down the road though, so I just went there in person to pick it up along with the SE.

Thanks Richard.

Someone is tying software sales to hardware availability. This is basic license key management which I thought was solved in the 90's.

The channel manager at BMD should clean this mess up no matter who's at fault.
