Hello,

Is it possible to use an non Davinci speed editor in 17? I'm really looking just get the wheel and use my regular keyboard for shortcuts.

If yes, please let me know your recommendations, maybe someone makes just the wheel.

Thank you

contour shuttle or Avid Transport - i have both, shuttle for my lappie whne driveing a workstation by remote, and Transport's on the workstations themselves

Shuttle is vastly easier to get going as it has Resolve settings mapped, and they work well, and can be modified to suit your workflow

Transport needs to be mapped, once done it has infinite softkeys by nesting pages inside pages so very powerful should one want to take on the task of mapping from scratch - and Transport is not supported by Avid anymore so one has to be found in the second hand market

if i was starting from scratch i'd prolly go with shuttle in 2021.... but i have a decade or so of useing Transport and in my hands it's a better tool, after a decade of tweaking mapping ;-)

I have a Shuttle Pro V2 and the Speed Editor. The Speed Editor is much faster for its intended purpose in the CUT page because it has all the buttons setup and labelled. I have my Shuttle set up so that the buttons mean the same things in EDIUS, Vegas and Resolve so if your moving between different applications the Shuttle is great. But for specific operation in the CUT page the Speed Editor is definitely worth it. I already had the Studio version but getting an extra license is fine.

I have found the trim control and setting transitions to be real value in a quick edit . I would have a look at the many YouTube videos on the Editor before deciding as I think it is an excellent purchase.

It is absolutely an excellent purchase. Truly an enabling device. Trimming is a core function of any NLE, IMHO, and the Speed Editor excels at trimming.

I can't imagine running Resolve without it now that I've used it for a week or so.
