as you can see in the picture ther are two images (one is a screen grab) so one is 16.8mb the other 150kb
the audiofile is 113mb, nothing has been done except adding it to the timeline
resolve is studio version 17.0b build 18

the computer is:
ryzeb 2700x
x470 motherboard
32gb ram
geforce 1660 6gb
various assortment of ssd's and hdd's

please help :)

i have tried everything i can think of - including every possible variation in "memory and GPU"

The size of the original file on hard drive won't matter much, Resolve processes everything as RGB 32 bit float at the timeline resolution, so that's the math that will fill the GPU memory.

Unfortunately, I'm thinking you're running into a long standing bug with nVidia GPU's. Resolve seems to have some issues with memory management.

I am suffering the same issue: I have 16 images @ 16MB each and DR says GPU RAM is full. After that not much else can be done as even clicking a node in Fusion sends DR into a tail spin.
I have even deleted all the images from the source folder to prevent DR from loading any image but even that didn't help. How is that possible?
Why would that kind of error cause DR to completely lock up? I checked the GPU RAM in Task Manager / Performance and while it did spike to 8GB on my nVidia RTX 2070 it went down to less than 1GB. Still, DR would lock up after clicking OK on the error message.

Trying to learn to do the "Ken Burns Effect", I get GPU Memory Full errors after a few minutes with just three ~10MB JPG test images on the timeline in Edit, not Fusion.

Most frustrating, even if it is beta software.

*EDIT* Next day. Just installed the latest NVIDIA "Studio" driver (about a week old) and so far, so good.

I used the same three images, did the same moves, including fades and dissolves and no GPU Memory Full errors. Yet. :)

Throwing caution to the winds, I even played the timeline at "Full View" rez on my 2560X1440 display. No errors.

Fingers crossed!

I am not a computer guru by any means. When I get that error message I close of Resolve and go into my
Task Manager (windows - CTRL+ALT+DELETE) and close all instances of Resolve. I notice that it opens up many resolve processes. Again, I am far from a computer guru...I mean FAR! but for some reason I see multiple instances of Resolve running?

Do make sure that your GPU driver is up to date. For Nvidia cards go to nvidia.com and check for the latest Studio driver.

Alex, a lot of people seem to have this problem with Resolve not fully closing in Windows. I don't know the answer as I do not suffer with this on my system. It has to be a related process running somewhere that is causing this.
