Audio Playback Delay

In edit mode, my audio playback begins up to a second after I push the space bar. So, the video will begin playback, but I won't begin hearing the audio until like a second later. The audio and video are then in sync; it is not a sync problem.

The type of footage doesn't seem to matter. Now, for example, I have pro res footage in the timeline, but the audio track is actually a standalone wav file.

Super frustrating - any suggestions are appreciated.

Are you playing back through an ultrastudio or through the computer audio? I've had better luck with dedicated hardware, personally...

I'm just playing out through the computer headphone jack to an external speaker.

Dedicated hardware is a good idea, but not feasible at the moment. And who knows if it would even fix the problem.

It feels like DaVinci shouldn't be doing this. Even Avid plays back on this machine with no issues.
