Trouble moving a shape in Fusion

I have a 1080 project, but I imported a 4K map still image so I can zoom in on it for showing a smaller area on which I want to animate a path. At certain points on the path, I want a little animated "ping" to indicate stops on a trip.
1) I start by adding a background (over the map). The background is just a tiny portion of the size of the map (by default). Then I add a circle (ellipse). Oddly, the circle (solid) also has a MUCH larger green circle (line) around it. What's that?
2) One main problem is that when I click on the control point (not sure if that's the right term) on my circle to drag it to the correct spot on my map, it moves VERY slowly compared to my mouse pointer. I don't think I'll ever be able to get the circle over to where I need it, since I've already dragged my mouse off the screen and the circle still hasn't moved anywhere far enough. What the heck is that all about?
3) As my circle moves, it isn't long before it gets cut off by the small background that I created for it. Do I somehow need to move the background with the circle or make the background larger? The inspector says the background is 1920x1080 (my timeline size), but over the top of my 4K map, it certainly seems WAY smaller in comparison.
Thanks for any assistance.

Try moving the circle by changing the numeric values in the inspector. It's possible that your input device isn't playing along with Fusion for one reason or another.
But on the other hand, In a lot of places, Resolve uses values of zero to one where you might expect it to use (for example) the pixel dimensions of your image. So you might be off by a factor of a few thousand if you've manually entered one type of coordinate when Resolve expects another, which would also explain the slow circle movement.
If you could post some screenshots, it would be easier to tell. I suspect that the green circle you're asking about is the pivot control, but I wouldn't describe it as "MUCH larger" than anything. It's about the size of a coin on my monitor.

Hi, Jason. Thanks for your help.
It does look like I would be able to move the circle (ellipse) far enough by dragging over the numbers in the Inspector as you suggested, although I still think it's bizarre that the huge circle is the one that moves with my mouse drag while the actual circle (ellipse) that I want to move moves at a
much slower rate. I don't understand that at all.
I've attached two images. One which shows how it looks initially, when I add the ellipse to the background. Second, one which shows how the large circle moves with my mouse drag, while the small circle (which is the one I'm actually trying to place specifically) barely moves at all, and also begins to get cropped behind the background, which will definitely prevent me from having it where I want it (farther to the left, in the example).

It might be helpful to see a screen shot of your nodes. I can't quite follow what you're doing.
I think I've got your problem, but am not sure. I'm imagining that you have a circle matte feeding into the blue port of a Background, and then you Merge that over your map. I think you're animating/adjusting the circular matte and that will cause problems. (For example, when it hits the edge of the Background, you'll run out of background color.) You want to feed the matte into the Background and have it make the right-sized/colored circle at the center of your viewer. Animate it by moving in the Merge. (Or with a Transform before the Merge if you're not comfortable with that.)
Or maybe I'm misunderstanding how you're set up.

By they way, here's the background:

...and nodes...

This may be common knowledge here, but if you right-click on this image and open it in a new tab, it will be MUCH larger.

It looks like the map (maybe) and the FlightPath mask are being animated.
To set up the circle, you should locate the Ellipse1 inside the boundaries of Background2, and animate the movement of the resulting circle in Merge2. If you try to move/animate in Ellipse1 you'll move it outside of Background2. Is that what you're doing? (I.e. the Ellipse1 and the Background2 are making a circle of a particular color/opacity. You then move this object, not its individual pieces.)

The map isn't animated. FlightPath is just a path (polygon) that I animate (using the Length property) on top of the map to show the trip path.
I'm just trying to set up a small circle that appears as the path passes each location where I stopped. Nothing to do with masks, as far as I know. I'm not even getting to the point where I can animate the circle. I have to drag it so that it's on top of the spot on the map where I stopped on my trip. I can't even do that.

Please re-read what I said. Both FlightPath and Ellipse1 are masks. It appears you are trying to move Ellipse1 and this is incorrect. Animating a movement is just recording key frames after you move something. It's the same thing.
