DR Studio 17: Long project loading times, bad performance.

PostSat Jan 09, 2021 10:28 am

Hey everyone, I've recently upgraded to the Studio version of Resolve and decided to download the new 17 version.

I used to edit in Premiere Pro and never had any performance issues. My PC build is as follows:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X

GPU: AMD RX 5700XT (I know that it is not ideal for video editing, but I don't work with very heavy video files)

RAM: 2x 16GB 3200MHz

Whenever I open a previously created project, I have to wait for about 2-5 minutes, depending on how big the project is. But even with a single timeline with a video of about 14 seconds, Resolve takes over 2 minutes to load it and for me to be able to play the video.

I have Resolve installed on my OS SSD, and the footage + Resolve project + footage on another SSD.

The timeline is set to 1080P, aswell as the monitor, and I still cannot get good stable playback when going from one clip to another on the timeline. This is strange because I used to set my timeline and monitor to 4K on Premiere Pro and never had any issues of this sort.

Can someone please guide me to get better performance in Resolve? I feel bad that I want to edit videos in Resolve but it is hard to do so due to performance issues. I used to edit in Premiere Pro and colour grade in Resolve, but it would be great if I could use Resolve from start to end.

Thank you in advance for your kind help! :)
