No audio output bug and davinci doens't compeltely close bug

PostSun Jan 10, 2021 8:34 pm

Hey guys, I find that if I render several videos in a row (create, save, render then go file - new project) when I output that video file (can be the second or third project) it'll output with zero sound and nothing I can do will get sound. I have to close the program - this is where the second bug comes in - and reopen it then re-export the video and it's fine.

For the second bug - DaVinci never completely closes. If I close it then go to reopen it it will refuse to open. I have to open task manager and manually end the DaVinci task then it will reopen just fine.

The second is a long standing issue with all versions of 16 for Windows.

Thankfully, it seems to be less of a problem with version 17 so far.

On the audio issue, post up your hardware and Preferences.

Audio hardware is just onboard sound from the motherboard and a cheap pair of Logitech stereo speakers. Speaker setup is set to Use System Setting, Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio), Stereo.

Alright.

Try changing from System to Manual. I've found that tends to produce more stable results.

Didn't help at all. mad eone video, exported perfectly. Click file - New Project and made a second. The exported video MP4 has ZERO sound. Quit DaVinci, CTRL+ALT+DEL and end the DaVinci task, reopen DaVinci, open project file, re-render video after deleting original file with no sound, check new file - perfect sound.

I'm using the YouTube 1080p export setting and exporting as MP4. Resolve version 16.2.8.005.

I, too, use the Realtek audio, but with no problems. I never use any of the YT presets.
Make sure you are set to 48k in the Windows Sound Playback tab. Also shown are my Resolve audio settings.
Resolve Studio 19.1.3 build 7
Dell XPS 8700 i7-4790, 24GB RAM, 2 x Evo SSDs, GTX1060/6GB (572.16 Studio Driver), Win10 Home, Speed Editor, Faderport 1, Calibrated Eizo ColorEdge CS230 + BenQ & Samsung monitors for UI, Canon C100mk2, Zoom H2n.

As to Resolve not closing properly, I have never had that problem with any version. I know a lot of people have and can only put it down to a process running in the background or computer configuration, preventing it from doing so.

That preference won't have any impact on exported audio. Different settings control that.

The issue with not fully closing does seem to be related to opening multiple projects in the same session. (At least for me.)

Maybe try fully closing Resolve in between projects.

(And remember, this does seem to be a lot better in 17. So this is a temporary work around.)

Closing it fully between projects is the only way it works fine. It always exports the first project with sound without issue.

The bug seems to be with creating a second project without closing the program.

the "closing bug" for me is just resolve taking 5-10 sec to completely close. if you re-open resolve before it is fully closed it will get stuck in the closing process and won't open until you manually kill it with the tast manager.
just wait a few secconds before restarting it.
you can also check your vram in the taskmanager. you should see a significant drop as soon as resolve was closed completely.

It's not that way for me unfortunately. I can wait an hour or more and it's still not closed. Gotta task manager kill it every time unless the PC is shut down

That is definitely not this bug. When it happens, Resolve never fully closes. Even days later, it's still stuck in memory.
