Hey,

So, I'm new to resolve, like... three video's in new. A month or three ago my dad suddenly bought drones and ever since ive been tasked with editing the footage. and on my pc i got some work done. but, my pc isnt powerful enough to properly run resolve so i have laggy playback footage and its frustrating to deal with

My dad installed remote desktop on the way more powerful pc downstairs and on my pc so i can access it remotely. it seemed to work, but when i add a folder of videos, and try to get them to play either in a preview or in a timeline, my playscreen is just... grey.

ive attached a screenshot of the issue... could it be that its not working because of remote desktop? and if so what do i need to do to fix it?
my brother tried following this: https://knowledge.civilgeo.com/knowledg ... e-desktop/ to fix it, but... it didnt work. he gave me some sort of explanation of what he did exactly but, im not very technical on the computer side of things...

if anyone has any ideas how to fix this it would be much appreciated!!

thankyou !

You should just work on the better machine.

I cant. Its not comnected to a screen and the boys use it as a gaming pc for the simrig they built. I cant use the pc directly. I can only use it via some sort of screen sharing software....

It'll never work that way, sorry.

Well, we don't know about your smaller machine, but the first thing to try is getting Shutter Encoder (free) and transcode that drone stuff to DNxHR or ProRes and try again.

In that case, I recommend building a better machine dedicated to editing.

If your 'remote' PC is running Windows, and has an Nvidia GPU then this thread https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=58343&p=700667&hilit=remote+desktop#p334839 may be worth reading, although it seems that you can start Resolve and get the UI - normally not even that works with Remote Desktop alone, so maybe you have a different problem. Specs for both PCs would be useful
