Windows 10: system registry error with beta 6

there is a new error message when I start Resolve 17 Beta 6, the first thing that appears is:

System Registry Error
Unable to locate resource folder location in system registry
Please reinstall application or contact support

and another one right after clicking away the first one:

System Registry Error
Factory preset folder doesn't exist
Please reinstall application or contact support

This happens since yesterday. It did not happen before. I use Resolve 17 Beta 6 since December almost every day. I did not update the graphics driver recently. No changes in the system since long time.

Have you tried a reinstall? (After backing things up.)

OK.

My thinking at this point is that it may be time for a Clean Install of Windows.

yes, this may be the case, although the system is not too old, maybe 1 1/2 years. I have a dual-boot workstation, and on the second Windows 10 system there is no registry error, but it's Resolve 16 not 17 installed.

Thank you for your reply. It helps to know that this registry error is not common, and probably because of the operating system, not DaVinci Resolve 17 beta.

Philipp,

Maybe worth a try to perform a full cleanup and reinstallation using the guide I've written for a Friend of mine, here:

Hope it can help,
Best regards,
Eric
