Media Import issues with Ubuntu (makeresolvedeb)

PostTue Jan 12, 2021 4:47 pm

Hello, im a seasoned user of davinci resolve on windows (i use resolve 16 on there) recently i have made the leap from windows to Ubuntu (debian based linux) to make my YouTube videos for many many reasons. i learned that davinci could be supported by Ubuntu with some tweaks so i decided i would put all the pieces in place and i when ahead and downloaded it and set the .deb file up as instructed on the makeresolvedeb website: everything was great until i tried to import media, specifically h.264 mp4 nvenc files (for reference this is what i used on windows without problems), when i did i was greeted with the 2 audio tracks of the clip except they had no sound and no video clip at all. i thought this was an error with linux so i reinstalled and did tons of troubleshooting, in doing so i found the media supported by the free non studio versions and nvenc is not supported so i encoded a file with apple pro res to test and i got video this time but the audio tracks were still blank but there, so i tested a mp3 music file and that imported fine so i assume its something to do with the way OBS encodes audio. My main question is will buying the full studio version allow me to import normally or is there a crucial detail im missing/doing wrong?
*this is my 1st post so if i forgot any details you may need just ask ill be keeping an eye on here :)
