Don't cache/rerender video when audio changes

PostTue Jan 12, 2021 6:31 pm

I believe I've noticed that when I have a video clip with Color effects that need to be cached, if I modify the linked audio's volume in Edit, the cache indicator goes from blue to red and it re-renders the video though there have been no changes.

You can Render In Place so there is a workaround, but it seems like the Cache system should also realize that the video is cached (pre-rendered) and that part was not invalidated by a volume change in the audio. Especially since the Cache system is not directly user-accessible, so you can do anything there you want. (Unlike even Render In Place that prompts for a place to save and I assume the file is supposed to be user-accessible.)
