Is there a way to minimize DaVinci Resolve without quitting the program? Also, does DVR need to be rendered?

The normal Minimize button will do just that.
The second question doesn't make sense.

I generally give Resolve an entire Desktop (or a Space, depending on what OS you're using), and then go to a different desktop or space to do things in the background, like copying files or writing a memo. I don't ever minimize it. Resolve tends to want to use all the screen in whatever desktop/space it's in, which is how it's designed.
