Bug report: Subtitle style
In the current beta (Build 18) I'm noticing a number of little bugs with captions. This is repeatable across multiple Mac computers running Catalina.
Changing font size and style only works intermittently. I've had a few occasions where the character details listed in the style window appear to default to some kinds of base setting.
When this happens:
[*]These settings aren't reflected in the preview window.
[*]Changes to subtitle style have no effect without first closing and reopening the whole project.
In the screenshot above the font is correct but the size, spacing and kerning are all wrong. Changing any of these properties (including font) has no effect when this occurs.
Suspected cause:
Selecting a subtitle that is already using its own separate style (i.e.) the 'Use Track Style' setting is unchecked. Once you have selected a subtitle without 'Use Track Style' checked this error then happens across all subtitles, including those using the track style.
Related bug:
Selecting a second subtitle that also does not use the track style... in this scenario, if the first thing you do is change the font size then the size does in fact change correctly. However, simultaneously the font style also changes. In my case it was changing from Helvetica Neue Medium to Helvetica Neue UltraLight without any input my end.
Related bug:
On subtitles that don't use the track style, Helvetica Neue Regular does not appear as an option despite this being used as the main track style. Helvetica Neue Medium is the closest option. I've found this to be the case in previous versions of Resolve going back to at least v16.
