In and Out point disappear from timeline when pasting clip

PostWed Jan 13, 2021 2:51 pm

Hi

searched for this but can't find an answer.. I use In and Out points in the timeline as reference points using SHIFT+I and SHIFT+O to go to In and Out point (as I sometimes place b-rolls at the end of the clips I'm editing, then cut and paste them as needed). Each time I paste a clip though (CMD+V) the In and Out point disappear... Is there a way to avoid this?

There is not.

As Paste will use the In/Out points for its operation, the presumption is that once Paste is completed, you would not want to Paste to the same location again, so In/Out are reset.

If your intention is to use In/Out solely for navigation, Markers may help with that task.

Well, no such thing was happening in Premiere but I guess I'll have to live with it! Thanks for getting back in any case

The biggest mistake I made after switching from Premiere Pro was thinking that my previous experience meant I could just jump into a new NLE without difficulty.

Nope.

As a new user, your first course of action should be to complete some Resolve training. The Beginner's Guide and Advanced Editing are an excellent groundwork to get you moving smoothly. ;)

Fair enough - can't see the reason in getting rid of in and out point once a clip is pasted though.. Markers are fine, but you end up with a whole bunch of them, whereas with the In and Out point you'd always deal with two of them only
