PostWed Jan 13, 2021 9:20 pm

I've been having a problem with adding media to my timeline, whenever I do I'm able to watch for a brief second then it goes black and crashes the program, ive installed both 16 and 17 and tried updating drivers and location of both the media and program

Yeah I am now having the exact same issue and it is now starting to full crash my desktop when I try to exit Resolve. Updated drivers, reverted drivers, fresh install of Resolve and persistant crashing.

I also have been having the same problem.

32GB RAM
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
EVGA RTX 3080
Windows 10 Professional

I also had this problem with my old RTX 2080 that never had problems in my old system. I was using an older version of DaVinci and not 16.2.8 or 17.

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

The NVIDIA 461.09 driver is causing issues. To see if that's related to your issue, download and install the previous 460.90 driver. Get the Studio driver, not the Game Ready driver.

When you run the driver installer, select the Custom install option, and do a Clean install.

As a point of interest, the Studio 460.89 driver is working fine with Resolve.

The driver I had major issues with was Gaming 469.09.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Just to clarify, there is no 469.01 driver. The problem driver is 461.09.
