White Balance - Eye Dropper or Color Temp?

Evening all!

I have a bmpcc 4k - I shoot in BRAW.

Historically in Resolve -if my WB is off I have used the Eye Dropper Icon and selecting something white in my footage to get the correct WB - is this a good method to use?

I only ask as I notice when I do this it changes the 'Temp' of the clip - but when I go into the 'Camera Raw' page the color temp set their for the clip is the same as was shot in the cam. this being the case is it better practice to change the wb on this Color Temp slider rather than using the eye dropper tool?

last question also around WB - it is always hard for me to judge the WB of a flat image so I stick on my own personal LUT and then set the WB after thats applied - is this again wrong and should i be setting the wb before any additonal changes/looks are being applied?

thanks in advance for your help!

If you're shooting in BRAW, then my suggestion would be to go to the Raw pallet, go to "Clip" mode, and adjust the Color Temp there. Usually the only thing I adjust in Raw is Color Temp and Exposure, then I do everything else with additional nodes after that point.

My preference is to work in the RAW palette as much as I can, as those changes don't degrade the image in any way.
