Hi.
AV1 from AOMedia Video is an open, royalty-free video coding format initially designed for video transmissions over the Internet. It saves 20-30% data compared to H.265 or VP9. Here is a general link with more information:

And here is a link with a more in depth information:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AV1
And here are lists of some of Companies taking part in the development or implementation og AV1
Let begin with 'Devices and Tools':
Amlogic, Android, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Windows and XBox.
And for: 'Apps, Content & Services':
Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Adobe, Amazon, BBC, Facebook, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Netflix, Prime Video, Skype, VLC and Youtube.
And for: 'Software, Silicon, Screens & Connectivity':
AMD, Arm, Broadcom, Intel and Nvidea.
The newest Graphics Cards form both nVidea and AMD have hardware decoding of AV1 and
the first Android 10 Boxes with the new S905X4 soc can now be ordered from Gearbest, Geekbuying and Aliexpress for US $59.69 to 76.23. They have AV1 hardware decoding of up to 4K@60fps and Google Assistant, if you choose one of the more expensive remotes.

That was the Decoding of AV1 part, but what is the possibility for Hardware Encoding of AV1 in Resolve?
I have been looking into the coming Rockchip High End RK3588 SoC, it is delayed. But will have 'a 6 TOPS NPU accelerator, and an advanced multimedia engine supporting 8Kp30 video encoding as well as 8Kp60 video decoding'.

Will it be possible to use a Android Box with a RK3588 SoC in some kind of Remote Rendering, and what will it require?
Or do you see any other possibilities, for furture Hardware Encoding of AV1 in Resolve?
Regards Carsten.
