Can the new M1 MacBook Pro run devinci ok

PostFri Jan 15, 2021 11:05 am

Hi all.
Ive tired Davinci on my 13" old macbook and it works but playback is crap due to the intel GPU. Ive been using it on my work laptop a 15" pro that has the ATI GPU and thats usable.
My own mac has broken so am looking at getting a new one but an intel 13" pro is still intel graphics but they have the new M1 laptops now with their own GPU. Has anyone tried it and is it up to the job. Im only using it for personal projects.

Thanks

If your personal projects have sources in H.264/265 and you don't need massive neural effects or other demanding filters, it will be great. I wouldn't invest in any Mac with an Intel CPU anymore. But if you want to work in 4K/UHD and may need such filters regularly (like NR), wait until Apple is delivering the next round. The current ones are only entry-level.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.
