I am new to Davinci. For the moment I am focusing on Fairlight to learn about audio editing. I am a retired band teacher and professional flutist with a DMA from USC in Los Angeles. How do you rejoin an audio clip that has been spliced? I always get the message "unable to join because the clips aren't adjacent to the same source clip."

As a new user, I'm going to recommend going through the training manuals as a first step.

If your focus is audio, the first three books (in sequence) should be sufficient.

Does the message appear with a butt edit and Timeline > Join Clips?

Clip boundaries may always be extended since audio edits are non-destructive.

the only message I get is the one I mentioned in the first post. I don't understand the part about being "non destructive."

Manually drag the left or right Clip boundary to extend the duration of the Clip and reveal the full extent of the source.

If an Audio Clip has been split (butt edit), the Join Clips command will be functional.
